African Safari Honeymoon Itinerary: Kenya and Tanzania (15 Days)

Day 1: USA or Canada - London, England
Our safari begins as we board our flight to London.

Day 2: London - Nairobi, Kenya
We arrive in London, to relax in dayrooms until our departure on the overnight flight to Nairobi. London Heathrow Hilton (dayrooms).

Day 3: Nairobi
On arrival this morning, we are met and escorted to our hotel. This afternoon we meet for a safari briefing. A visit to Nairobi's Giraffe Center and Karen Blixen's home, made famous in the film, Out of Africa, precedes our welcome dinner at Bahati, the Kent family home - our first opportunity to get acquainted with fellow travelers. Nairobi Serena Hotel.

Day 4: Nairobi - Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
We fly north of Nairobi to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and our first exclusive campsite. After lunch we begin to spot some of the animals inhabiting this wilderness area, including unique northern species such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, and more. Exclusive Lewa Camp.

Day 5: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
A cup of coffee or tea delivered to our tents begins a day of game viewing. On morning and afternoon game drives, we see elephant, rhino, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, the graceful, long-necked gerenuk, lion and, possibly, leopard. The day ends with a roaring campfire and a delicious dinner under the stars. Exclusive Lewa Camp.

Day 6: Lewa - Nairobi - Arusha, Tanzania - Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
Today we fly to Nairobi and onto Arusha. After pausing for lunch, we board another flight to the Lake Manyara airstrip, then we drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, arriving at our private safari camp in time for dinner. Exclusive Ngorongoro Crater Camp.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro is a "pocket paradise": an ancient volcanic caldera containing a fascinating cross-section of East African wildlife. Spend a full day game viewing among the Crater's lion, elephant, hyena, wildebeest, zebra and rhino. The seasonal lakes are crowded with birds and we may also see a Maasai herdsman with his cattle before returning to our camp at the end of the day. Exclusive Ngorongoro Crater Camp.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater - Serengeti
We drive to the Serengeti, stopping en route at the Leakey family's excavations in Olduvai Gorge. Exclusive Serengeti Camp.

Days 9-10: Serengeti National Park
We spend two exhilarating days on morning and afternoon game drives exploring the vast and varied landscapes of the Serengeti, one of the great game viewing destinations of the world. This park is home to every type of plains game imaginable, including giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra and antelope, as well as predatory lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah. The Serengeti is the site of the annual migration when an astounding number of animals trek across the plains in search of green grass and water. Exclusive Serengeti Camp.

Day 11: Serengeti - Nairobi - Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya
This morning, we fly from the Serengeti via a charter flight to Kiliminjaro Airport, then connect to Nariobi (Wilson). A short transfer via Land Cruiser will take us to the Carnivore Restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll take our scheduled flight from Nairobi to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya's finest. Here our private tented camp sits on the edge of the Mara Plain, a vast expanse of open land with a dense concentration of resident wildlife - a perfect recipe for excellent game viewing. Exclusive Mara Camp.

Days 12-13: Masai Mara
Two days of morning and afternoon game drives in this magnificent savannah wilderness, the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem. We need not venture far from camp to see herds of impala, gazelle and zebra, elephant, giraffe and prides of lion. On our last evening in camp, we gather for a farewell dinner and an opportunity to review our safari's highlights around the inviting campfire. Exclusive Mara Camp.

Day 14: Masai Mara - Nairobi - London
We fly to Nairobi where dayrooms await. This evening we transfer to the airport to board our international flight. Nairobi Serena Hotel (dayrooms).

Day 15: London - USA
On arrival in London, connect to a homebound flight.
